Anime NebrasKon to feature 150 anime and gaming activities
Anime NebrasKon is Nebraska's oldest and largest anime con being held on November 6th-8th, 2009. NebrasKon posses a friendly and lively atmosphere with 150 panels and activities providing a wide range of entertainment comparable to larger cons. NebrasKon has chosen Omaha as its new home to better accommodate its continuing growth for its sixth year. With incredible facilities at the Holiday Inn Coco Key Water Resort in Omaha, NE. NebrasKon will have enough room for its expected 1,500 attendees.
Anime NebrasKon boasts of 150 panels and activities to satisfy the interests of any of the attendees. NebrasKon will feature panels by anime industry guests and artists such as Yuri Lowenthal, Tiffany Grant, Matt Greenfield, Tara Platt, and Shannon and Richard Townsend. Matt Greenfield and Tiffany Grant will be present in one of their first guest appearances since the news about ADV rocked the anime industry.
Main events include Cosplay Contest, Anime Idol, and Cosplay Swimsuit Contest. Anime Idol is a contest where a group of singers sing J-rock songs and anime related songs with judges that provide critiques. Cosplay Swimsuit Contest is new to the schedule added in honor of NebrasKon's new location at Coco Key. Other popular panels are Con War Stories, AMV (anime music video) contest, and Dating Auction.
Anime NebrasKon's viewing rooms will have a special pre-release screening of Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone during the con. The film was ranked 4th highest grossing anime film at the Japanese box office during 2007. Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone received the 2008 Tokyo International Anime Fair award for anime of the year and Hideaki Anno received best director. It is based on the series of Neon Genesis Evangelion and the movie contains some scenes that are replication of the original series; however, new scenes or omitted scenes are presented and this movie incorporates 3D CG technology.
Buranden will be the musical guest of honor at Anime NebrasKon. Buranden is a bilingual singer-songwriter with a classically-trained, smooth but powerful voice who crafts moving, yet energizing tracks. He has taken Japan by storm and growing in popularity in the United States. "Complicated Life," the first EP of Buranden, is currently available on iTunes.
Anime NebrasKon will host an Artist's Alley where 16 artists can display and sell their artwork. A Dealer's Room will have around 20 dealer's from across the region to sell anime and video game related merchandise. The game room will be open 24 hours which includes video gaming and table top gaming.
At the door registration is $45 for all three days. Single Day passes are available at the door. A Child's Badge is $15 for all three days and a one day badge is $10. The hotel is offering a discounted rate for NebrasKon attendees. Coco Key Water Resort is offering a discount on water park admission for attendees also. Anime NebrasKon is hosted by the Nebraska Japanese Animation Society which is a not for profit organization. The Nebraska Japanese Animation Society's mission is to educate and inform the public about Japanese animation and Japanese culture.
