News for Hatsume Fair 2009:

The Morikami Museum adds anime programming to its 30th annual Hatsume Fair

Delray Beach, FL - January 20, 2009 - As winter changes into spring, the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens will be celebrating the change of seasons in its own way, with its traditional Hatsume Fair. And this year, the Morikani Museum will now be adding another favorite Japanese tradition in honor of its 30th anniversary...Anime.

The Hatsume Fair at The Morikami is a unique Japanese Spring Festival that celebrates the first bud of Spring. This year, the fair will feature four stages of entertainment ranging from taiko drumming, martial arts and bonsai demonstrations and even a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Not to mention, there will a chance to feed the Koi fish that reside in Morikami Pond and also the opportunity to learn about the Yamato Colonists that began helping build South Florida .

In addition, the Hastume Fair will be celebrating all things anime this year. With the help of anime, manga and video game social networking site, Animingle.com, there will be screenings of some of the most popular anime features, as well as panels focusing on anime and manga. In addition, there will be an anime dealer and artist room, where visitors may be able to find that anime plushie or original art they are looking for. In addition, visitors are invited to cosplay as their favorite Japanese characters and take part in our Cosplay Contest.

Also new for this year, Natalie Wood, aka Lady Saiyuki will be featuring her BJD's (Asian Ball Jointed Dolls) and discussing them in a panel. The Sleeping Samurai from Brookesville, FL. will be hosting sword fighting workshops and a foam sword fighting battle.

"The great thing about the Hatusme Fair is that the parents don't have to just drop off the kids," said Damian Marchione, owner and creator of Animingle. "There's something there for everyone to enjoy".
