Anime Mid-Atlantic moves to Virginia Beach after Hyatt cancels contract
Anime Mid-Atlantic has announced on their web site that the Hyatt Regency Crystal City double-booked the hotel on that weekend and has decided to cancel their contract. As a result, the convention will be held at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Virginia Beach.

AniZona has been cancelled
AniZona has announced that their 2008 convention has been canceled, but they hope to return in 2009. The cancellation is a result of not being able to get a minimum of 75 hotel rooms booked at the hotel by a December 16th deadline.

Steve Pearl, the moderator of the rec.arts.anime.info newsgroup from its inception in 1993 until 2001, has passed away over the weekend.

TandokuCon cancellation posted on PA Convention Center web site
Over the weekend, the Pennsylvania Convention Center had posted on their web site that TandokuCon was canceled. The notice has since been removed. Another Anime Convention announces new guests
Another Anime Convention in Nashua, New Hampshire has stated that several previously announced guests are unable to attend. However, the con has announced that voice actors Christine Auten, Daniel Kevin Harrison, and Spike Spencer will be in attendance in addition to several web comic guests.

Otakon announces 2007 attendance
Otakon has announced that 22,852 paid attendees were at this year's convention. This is up just 550 from Otakon 2006's paid attendance count of 22,302.

Another Anime Convention announces guests
Another Anime Convention has announced that they are moving to the Courtyard by Marriott in Nashua, NH the weekend of October 12-14. Their current list of guests includes Richard Epcar, Greg Finley, Daniel Kevin Harrison, and Ellyn Stern.

MomoCon shuts down early
MomoCon in Atlanta, Georgia reportedly shut down nine hours early on Sunday morning. Multiple unconfirmed reports state some people attempted to set off fireworks inside the building where the convention was being held.

Otakon pre-registration now available, no attendance cap
Otakon 2007 has opened pre-registration for their July convention. Unlike the previous two years, there is no attendance cap this year.

American Anime Awards adds two new nominees
The American Anime Awards, an event to be held at New York Comic Con, have added two manga titles to their ballot. "The nominations were submitted prior to when the ballot went live but were inadvertently left off, an error which we deeply regret."
