Biography:
KristiclesGG aka Kristy North Peigan is a Piikani First Nation member and a full-time artist, designer, and cosplayer in Calgary, AB. She is an Alberta University of the Arts graduate with a Bachelor of Visual Communications Design in Illustration. She is also a founder of Cosplay Skilltree. Kristy is an artist with a surreal, futuristic style juxtaposing traditional and digital media. She works as an artist by day, and a cosplay creator also by day! She uses Indigenous teachings and subject matter to portray a modern view of Indigenous voices in portraits and surreal spaces. Indigenous representation in pop culture and mainstream media is one of her passions and that carries into her art and cosplay where she uses her voice to share her experiences with racism, tokenism, and prejudices. Kristicles uses her cosplay, content creation, and art as a vehicle to connect with indigenous youth through the Stampede Foundation Indigenous Youth Program and speak about staying true to one's culture in the arts and digital media. Kristy is also currently the indigenous artist in residence at the Calgary Public Library Downtown where her art and cosplay are displayed for studio visits!
