Biography:
Chris Chibnall was the executive producer, showrunner and lead writer of Doctor Who from 2017 to 2022, throughout the tenure of Jodie Whittaker's time as the Doctor. After successes in the UK theatre scene, Chris Chibnall's television career officially began as co-creator, head writer and consulting/executive producer of Born and Bred for BBC One, and penned scripts for Life on Mars, before joining Russell T. Davies as co-producer and head writer for Torchwood. He later became showrunner on Law & Order UK and Camelot, before creating and writing the widely acclaimed detective drama Broadchurch with David Tennant and Olivia Colman, as well as pairing him for the first time with Whittaker. He wrote multiple scripts for Doctor Who during the Tennant and Matt Smith eras, before taking over as showrunner in 2017, producing Whittaker's entire era, casting its supporting cast and penning many of the show's stories; he departed with Whittaker at the end of "The Power of the Doctor".
