Anime Boston 2003 Guest List Changes

From New England Anime Society

Convention Personality Steve Bennett and Voice Actress Kristen Nelson to Attend

BOSTON, Mass. - March 11, 2003 - Anime Boston's rapidly growing guest list was recently expanded to include Steve Bennett, convention personality and co-founder of I.C. Entertainment, as well as Kristen Nelson, a new name in voice acting.

In the early 1980's, Steve Bennett worked at Studio Aoehyma in Tokyo, Japan as an apprentice animator to Noboru Furusei (New Dominion Tank Police, Lupin III, etc.). While at Mr. Furusei's contract studio, Steve worked on Cat's Eye, the Urusei Yatsura TV series and first movie (Only You). Other projects ranged from Walt Disney's Duck Tales and Warner Bros' animated commercials to many popular 1980's Japanese TV series. In 1997, Steve co-founded Studio Ironcat (now I.C. Entertainment) with the help of Masaomi Kanzaki, the creator of Xenon, Gun Crisis, and Shogun Cop. Since then I.C. Entertainment has greatly broadened its horizons and become one of the forerunners for Japanese manga and American comics.

Kristen Nelson is a graduate Ithaca College where she studied classical voice. After attracting some attention during an anime convention's dubbing workshop, she was offered the chance to audition for Boogiepop Phantom. Kristen was cast as Megumi in episode three and as Suname in episode four. She has also done voice work in His and Her Circumstances (Kare-Kano) where she played numerous small roles including Mrs. Arima, Arima's cruel aunt, and many school girls.

The guests will be appearing at Anime Boston throughout the convention. Question-and-answer panels will be set up to give fans the opportunity to talk to all the guests. Steve Bennett will be holding several artist workshops as well.

Unfortunately, the singing duo from Poland known as Miyu Porando (no) Musume regrets that they are no longer able to attend Anime Boston 2003.
